Map of Xalapa

Hello everyone,
Just thought I would add a picture of Mexico with Xalapa marked so you can see geographically where I'll be. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone! Well, its thankgiving day so I figured it was about time to make a blog for my upcoming trip to Xalapa, Mexico. To give everyone an overview of what my trip will be like, I will be leaving January 8 and returning on June 30. For the first 3-4 weeks I will be in a city called Cuernavaca doing an intensive language program. After that program finishes, I will be heading to Xalapa to take classes the Universidad Veracruzana from about February to June. I will be staying with a host family in Xalapa set up through BCA (Brethren Colleges Abroad), which is the program I am going to Mexico with. The director of the program has been their for around 12 years and has his doctorate in Mexican Archaeology. I think there will be around 19 students total in our group. We will do various activities together as a group such as field trips to visit other parts of Mexico and local attractions, but I envision spending the majority of my free time making friends with other Mexican students and "Jalapeno's", as the people of Xalapa are called for their claim to the origen of the Japaleno pepper (which will also mean I'll probably spend a fair amount of free time trying to cool the constant burn in my mouth).

Anyhow, that's about all I know about the trip so far. I'll be sure to keep everyone updated. Have a happy thanksgiving! Hasta la proxima.
